As a favour for a friend I was staying with, I loaded up her car with lots of cardboard from her recently purchased furniture, and took it to the recycling centre. She is a rate payer in Bayswater. Unfortunately on arrival, I was told that she would have to bring it to the facility with her ID herself. I asked if I could come back with her rates notice and was told no. I was told instead of dropping it off for free, I could pay $162. Thanks, now instead of doing the right thing and have it recycled, I will out it in the general waste bins in the street, which besides not being recycled, will now cost the Bayswater council more for it's disposal.
Be aware, they charge over a hundred plus $ if your 1kg over the 300kg limit. If your unsure empty half your load and turn back in for a second drop off.
Came here to drop off a bunch of cardboard boxes. The staff were friendly and helpful to direct you where to go. Within the shed there are also marked signs where to unload. So easy and great free service for locals.
Unreal. No disrespect to any staff members who are just doing their job.. but. I came in this morning with x4 garbage bags of general waste. I was told it would cost $162. But if I had a rates bill it’s $14. I’m from interstate I don’t have a rates bill. Therefore they were unable to allow me to dump my waste unless I paid $162. I phoned after and they confirmed it is there policy. Just so you know!
Having to drive 30kms to a tip that has good rates as EMRC Bayswater is disgustingly expensive. Each time we go, the staff seem to pick a price out of their head. The weigh bridge should be dismantled as we have been advised on our last run that the weight doesn’t matter. We brought approx 40kg of wood and we were advised the minimum we would pay to dump it was $157.80. We went there 2.5 months with nearly the same amount and we paid $80 which we thought was extreme. Prices like this is probably the sole reason why fly tipping is carried out by people. Would not recommend. Went to Tamala Park Landfill same day same load and we were charged $47.30 for 200kg
Rang this morning to get rid of some IKEA Cardboard Boxes as I am outside of the bayswater catchment zone - but it is the closest place to my house in Hazelmere. Got told the minimum cost is $162!! Glad I made the phone call. Guess I will just chop it up and put it in the recycling bin and burn the rest.
Great location. Knowledgeable, polite, friendly and welcoming staff. Highly recommended.
